Bradley Manning, a schoolboy in Wales less than a decade ago, is currently undergoing court martial in the USA for releasing into the public domain a vast cache of classified documents containing evidence of war crimes, human rights abuses, corruption and collusion amongst governments, and the true nature of the wars against Iraq and Afghanistan.

As the case continues through the military court process in the USA in real time, supporters will join the molinogroup at each performance for after show discussions and will be available to answer questions on the case – there will be campaign material on display and background, as well as detailed information, to take away.

Whilst serving in the US Military in Iraq, Bradley apparently felt compelled to take action because of what he was seeing in his work as an intelligence analyst – he later implied he was opposed to buying into the prevailing apathy of ‘a blissful fantasy’, preferring ‘a painful reality any day’.

Reprisals since his arrest have included more than two years in prison before trial, nearly a year of which was spent in solitary confinement in a windowless 12’ x 6’ cell in conditions described by the UN rapporteur on torture as ‘cruel, inhuman and degrading’ and by the state department’s own spokesperson as ‘ridiculous, counterproductive and stupid’.

Bradley is back in court on Monday 25 June. His trial is unlikely to take place before the end of the year.
