25 August: Vigils for Manning and Assange

Around 60 people gathered on Saturday at 2pm at the US Embassy in London to show their support for Bradley Manning. The silent vigil organised by Veterans for Peace UK was followed by speeches.

A supporter unveiled a new ‘Collateral Slaughter’ banner. Around 3pm, under heavy rain, the participants started heading to the Ecuadorian Embassy, where they arrived cheerfully soaked.

They were greeted by Julian Assange from one of the windows of the embassy and then released balloons.

The vigils at the two embassies were also reported in the Huffington Post and (same report) in the London Evening Standard.
