Well, right now Summer (except in Oz of course) seems a whole chill away – brrrr – but, yes, it was back in June that we posted this amazing announcement:

19 June: Julian Assange seeks asylum in Ecuadorian Embassy in London:

Julian Assange has today walked into Ecuador’s London Embassy and sought political asylum. He is now under the protection of the Ecuadorian government while his request is being considered. The Embassy issued this statement.

Julian, who has previously been offered unconditional residency in Ecuador, has cited abandonment by Australia, attacks by top officials in Sweden and potential death penalty in the US amongst his reasons for this move, according to a press release by the Ecuador Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Integration.

OVERNIGHT AND ON

Beginning with a 24 hour vigil outside until late on Thurs, supporters decided to maintain a ‘presence’ outside the Embassy, and soon all was colour and creativity. The vigil resumed on Friday morning.   The msm began to be very witty (NOT) and this continued for some time….but supporters continued to gather, with a notable Ecuadorian contingent.

RICARDO (!) BLEW THE WHISTLE

Soon dastardly plans were afoot, however (in true Brit style, what – ha!) to huff and puff away the sanctuary of Ecuadorian protection.  But, oh dear! The Ecuadorians did not understand the rules and they blew the gaffe!  YES! they did!

When they received a PRIVATE (!) letter from the Brits threatening the diplomatic integrity of their Embassy they SNITCHED – o.m.g.- they – did  – not  -know – that – they – were – supposed – to – keep – the – British – threat – A SECRET  (s.h.p.)….

CALLOUT, LIVESTREAMS, TROUBLE AT MEETINGS

This resulted in a lot of trouble at some meetings later but first in an overnight callout to the vigil (and renta) (not really) crew who, complete with a couple of livestreams, all supporterly descended on the streets outside the Embassy to meet and greet the *at least four* (estimates vary cf buckram men) (it says four on the livestream but I thought it was eight) large police vans accommodating twelve officers each who had just come along for….for….the ride? (the evening?) 

Well, anyway, not, definitely not, with a view to entering the Embassy (they said so)

and so the great and unique* (*see unprecedented) Embassy plot was FOILED – and ha to you, too!

ASYLUM GRANTED 16TH AUG 2012; SPEECH! (19TH AUGUST 2012)

     

After this Ecuador gave Julian asylum and the msm were not very witty again and then it was SPEECH DAY! And here is a picture that was taken on 16th August that we all recognise (or one like it)….and Julian said this.

After this the msm were a bit not very witty again but the vigil continued and it was not long before they got bored of this (but the supporters didn’t) and life went on with some very stalwart souls keeping tryst.

Periodically someone stopped by to enquire after Julian’s famous socks    ,  his aversion to dogs   (?),    his comprehension of cisterns    

(all of which curiously disappear in the night when editors notice what people  have written),     and later his lungs,      

There was another SPEECH from Julian at the end of September,

but still he continued to asyl and the vigilers continued to vig, and g.e. continued to put up pics and posters in the day and the poleese continued to take them down at night all the while saying it was tourists, and now, at last, bros and sis, it’s SPEECH TIME again, so gather ye all to the ECUADORIAN EMBASSY again for it is SIX MONTHS SINCE THE FIRST DAY JULIAN TOOK REFUGE THERE.
